First signs of fall

Wow, there are already some colorful leaves on the mountains behind my house. Isn't it pretty? This view is one of the things I'll miss most about Korea -- every day, these stunning mountains look slightly different yet equally gorgeous.

The weather is noticeably cooler in the mornings and evenings but still hot hot hot during the day. Not such a bad way to ease into the season... People keep talking about Starbucks pumpkin spice lattes, though, and I'm having MAJOR cravings. I still can't believe this will be my first autumn in DC in three years!

After having a week with only three teams, students are slowly coming back to school. Or, at least, we have 20 teams scheduled for next week -- let's see how many back out at the last minute because they're afraid of swine flu.

This week's kids -- it's really too generous to call them "kids" considering that they were 16- to 19-year-old boys (and four girls) -- took every opportunity to make their 23-year-old female teacher (aka me) extremely uncomfortable. Let's just say that my week was spent getting asked out on dates, having my photo taken and getting a "gift" from a boy's crotch.

Did I mention that these were my students? And that when I told my bosses that I was uncomfortable teaching any more classes, they laughed?!

Grrr... long week but at least it's over! Plus it gave me the chance to spin an elaborate lie involving a husband (thanks, Oliver!), five children and an entire SEV family. Who said you shouldn't lie to children? ;)
